Whack-a-bug – Cliff Flycatcher Style

While up in Abra Patricia we had great looks at this adorable Cliff Flycatcher at a nest, who snagged a bug, proceeded to whack it a few times and then went off to feed it to its babies. ENJOY!

  1. what field guides are you using?
The cliff flycatcher’s dinner looks like a cicada of some type. It is interesting as its form just didn’t impress me as flycatcher…

    1. In Peru we were using “Birds of Peru” by O’Neill, Lane, Schulenberg and Parker. As for the bug, not sure what kind of species it was!
